INTRODUCTION TO THE WEBSITE
This website will be replenished each month and will begin with the June edition of 2013. We believe in breathing with both lungs; and we will search the charismatic roots of monasticism both of East and West and shall relate this Tradition to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. However, it should be of interest to ordinary folks who would never consider themselves charismatics. If they encounter the ancient charismatic movement of monasticism without the "Afro-American" style of prayer, they may discover how charismatic they really are, and how they may deepen their charismatic experience without ever adopting that style. If this happens, they will appreciate the Catholic Charismatic Renewal with a knowledge beyond appearances, and they will see themselves brothers and sisters to the charismatics, even if they pray in a different way. In their turn, charismatics will discover that their spirituality has an affinity to ancient monastic spirituality, and that they have much to learn from the monastic experience that will help them deepen their own charismatic vocation.
I am sure that the introduction of the Charismatic Renewal into the Catholic Church is connected to the introduction into the eucharistic prayers of the post-Vatican II Roman Rite of an explicit epiclesis, or invocation to the Father to send his Spirit on the bread and wine and onto the people to make them one with Christ. I am also convinced that what charismatics call "Baptism of the Spirit" is nothing less than answer by the Father to that prayer said by the priest in the Mass. This prayer is at the very heart of Catholic life, and God answers it in many different ways, one of them being the birth and continual flourishing of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, especially in the Church of Central and South America. This website is based on that conviction. Once more, welcome to the website.
